The design of our Active Birth Pools ensures ease and safety. A sturdy step unit, extra-wide rim, and built-in support seat make entering the pool both simple and secure. With a height of 75cm and a depth of 63.5cm, our pools are thoughtfully crafted for comfort and accessibility.

Using our step unit is the safest and most effective way to enter the pool. It provides mothers with a height advantage, enhances stability, and minimizes risk, ensuring they feel grounded and, most importantly, safe.

Proper technique for entering and exiting the pool is essential to ensure a smooth and secure transition, allowing mothers to fully embrace the benefits of water during labor and birth.

Our weighted step stool is thoughtfully designed to align perfectly with the height of the pool’s interior. This seamless transition eliminates any variation in height, reducing the risk of slips or falls caused by an unexpected drop. Safety and stability are at the heart of our design, ensuring a secure and confident entry into the pool.

Our step stool is designed to lower the rim’s height to match that of a standard bathtub, providing added comfort and support. This thoughtful feature allows the birthing person to sit securely on the pool’s rim while keeping their feet firmly planted on the solid, slip-resistant surface of the step stool, ensuring stability and confidence during use.

While a taller, multi-step stool might appear advantageous, it is actually much less safe. Such stools increase the risk of stepping into the pool from a greater height without sufficient support, potentially causing a loss of balance due to uneven surface levels. For this reason, we strongly advise against using step stools that do not match the height of the pool’s interior floor, as they compromise safety and stability during transition.

Practicing the correct procedure for entering and exiting the pool is essential for ensuring safety. The most crucial factor in a safe transition is to maintain three points of contact at all times. This practice significantly enhances stability, allowing you to effectively support the patient while reducing the risk of slips or falls.

Start by stepping onto the stool while holding onto the rim of the pool.

Turn and face away from the pool and sit on the wide rim. The 8-inch (203mm) wide rim has been designed to comfortably sit on and support weight.

While sitting and holding on to the pool, pivot one leg into the pool, the follow with the other leg,.

Now you will be safely sitting on the rim and facing into the pool, and able to slowly lower yourself onto the seat.

To exit the pool , simply do this same process in reverse.

Large/multi-step units are commonly supplied with water birth pools. Mothers climb up, step over the rim & down onto a submerged plinth and into the pool. Manual handling experts do not want women in strong labour endangering themselves by climbing up wet slippery surfaces. Bulky steps obstruct movement around the pool and present a trip hazard. They DANGEROUS and should NOT be utilised.
